Pakistan end SAFF Women Championship with consolation win

Pakistan ended their disappointing 2nd SAFF Women Football Championship 2012 campaign with a consolation 3-0 win over Maldives today at the CR&FC Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

A brace from Hajra Khan, followed by a sublime freekick from Malika Noor helped Pakistan record the win. After being hammered 0-8 by Nepal in opening game, Pakistan faced a shock 0-4 defeat at the hands of Afghanistan which ended their quest for another semi-finals appearance.

The win helped Pakistan finish 3rd on 3 points but with a -9 goal difference, while at the same time it allowed Afghanistan to join Nepal in the semi-finals due to Maldives finishing bottom with just 1 point.
