Zulfia stars again for Karachi Utd in Women’s Championship

Gilgit WFC bounced back from a poor start to their 2021 National Women’s Football Championship campaign to beat Hazara Quetta FA 0-5 in their Group ‘A’ match at the KMC Stadium on Friday.

Misbah Rasool was the pick of the players for Gilgit and was involved in most of the attacking moves. However, it was Zahra who opened the scoring for Gilgit. Her goal was followed by Samreen and Shahzadi’s goals.

Misbah scored the last two goals showing immense skill and composure. Gilgit were beaten 14-0 by Wapda in their opening match.

In Group ‘B’, Karachi United continued their dominance and their new recruit Zulfia Nazir, who bagged 10 goals in their first match, netted another two in their 2-0 win against HEC at the KPT Stadium.

The other Group ‘B’ match was a thriller. Sialkot City WFC and Karachi WFC managed a point each as their match ended 1-1 at the KMC Stadium.

Noor opened the scoring for Sialkot before Cinderella Salamat doubled the lead. However, Karachi WFC bounced back courtesy a brace by Hania with both goals being scored in a space of seven minutes.

Both the teams faced 19-0 defeats in their opening fixtures. Sialkot were beaten by Masha United while Karachi WFC lost to last year’s finalists Karachi United.
