Masha top Group B after battling draw with Karachi Utd in NWFC

Masha United confirmed their finish at the top of Group ‘B’ drawing 2-2 against Karachi United in their 2021 National Women’s Football Championship match on Thursday, 26 March.

In what was one of the most-awaited matches of the competition, Areeba Abdul Aziz opened the scoring for Masha United tapping in a perfectly-placed pass by Nepalese forward Anita KC.

Karachi United responded with a high-energy start to the second half and equalized through their top scorer Zulfia Nazir at the 47th minute. The forward latched onto a throughball, took a touch and slotted it past Masha goalkeeper Anjila Tumpabo.

Masha United hit back thanks to Saru Limbu’s lobbed finish past the Karachi United goalkeeper in the 54th minute but Karachi United equalized through a long-range hit by midfielder Aliha Aladin.

The result meant Masha United and Karachi United ended the group stage on equal points but Masha finished top due to their better goal difference.

In the other match of the group at the KMC Stadium, Higher Education Commission registered a comfortable 8-1 win against Karachi WFC. Sidra scored four goals for the winners while Anmol Hira got a hat-trick. Shumaila also netted for HEC. Karachi WFC’s sole goal was scored by Mehak Amin.
