WAPDA, SA Gardens set for Challenge Cup quarterfinal

LAHORE: Wapda beat Karachi United 3-0 and SA Gardens won 2-0 against Hazara Coal Company in the 2020 National Challenge Cup Round-of-16 matches at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore on Friday, 11 December.

The two teams will face each other in the second quarter-final, the first set to be played between Army and KRL.

Wapda showed their experience and grit to outclass a young Karachi United side. Ashfaquddin scored the goals for the winners in the 47th and 68th minute while former Pakistan NT midfielder Mohammad Ahmed scored in the 65th minute after coming on as a substitute.

In the other match, two goals by striker Essa Bahadur (5th and 55th) were enough for SA Gardens to beat Hazara Coal Company. For Chitral-native Essa, this brings him to 6 goals in 4 games.

On Saturday, NBP take on HEC and PCAA play KPT as the Round-of-16 continues. Both matches will be held at the Fame FC Ground.
