Baloch shatter Ittefaq promotion hopes, Masha and Lyallpur win in PFF League

LAHORE/KARACHI: Baloch FC thrashed Young Ittefaq FC 5-1 while Lyallpur FC beat Jeay Lal FC 4-0 in their respective 2020 Pakistan Football Federation League ‘B’ Division Final Round Club Leg matches at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, 11 October.

In the Departmental Leg match at the Drigh Union Football Ground in Karachi, Faisalabad’s Masha United edged Chaman’s Pak-Afghan Clearing Agency 1-0.

Young Ittefaq FC of Chaman, who made a flying start to the tournament, squandered their lead to lose 5-1 to Quetta’s Baloch FC. This was the Chaman side’s second loss in a row by a huge margin after their 6-1 defeat to Islamabad’s Huma FC on Friday, 9 October.

After a stunning 18th minute opener from Sanaullah, Ittefaq lost their heads and went down to 9 men barely 4 minutes later. A rash challenge from a Baloch player on saw two Ittefaq players react violently, forcing the referee to issue red cards.

Muhammad Zahid of Baloch FC Quetta

Unsurprisingly, Baloch FC took complete control of the game as Mohammad Zahid scored his second hat-trick in the tournament. The Baloch FC striker scored in the 34th, 46th and 57th minutes while Fateh Mohammad and Naseebullah scored the other two goals on the 42nd and 55th minute marks against the devastated 9-man Ittefaq.

The result meant Ittefaq FC are all but out of the race for the promotion top spot and it’s going to be either Baloch FC Quetta and Huma FC Islamabad who will feature in next year’s Pakistan Premier League.

In the low scoring Departmental Leg match, Masha United won thanks to a 41st minute strike by Farrukh against PACA for their second successive win in the campaign.
