LAHORE: Punjab and FATA played for a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the National U-15 Football Championship which started at the Punjab Stadium here on Friday.
FATA earned the lead first when Shaheen Khan scored a field goal in the 7th minute. Punjab struggled to score an equaliser till half-time. After resumption, Punjab’s efforts earned success when Mohammad Shoaib scored in the 68th minute to avoid defeat.
Earlier, the secretary, Pakistan Football Federation, Colonel (retd.) Ahmad Yar Lodhi said that the top 45 to 50 players of this national championship would be picked to be trained in the training camp to select the best team to represent Pakistan in the SAFF Under-15 Football Championship being held in Nepal in November this year.
He said that the PFF was also giving equal importance to promote women’s football.
