LAHORE: A FIFA mission will reach Lahore on Friay (tomorrow) to assess the situation following the restoration of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) both by the Lahore High Court and FIFA itself.
“Yes, it will arrive on Friday,” a source in the PFF confirmed to this correspondent on Wednesday. However, he did not confirm the strength of the delegation. “Its strength will be known tomorrow,” the source added.
Meanwhile, a FIFA spokesman refused to share information about its mission which is expected to stay for two to three days at the Punjab capital. “Updates will follow after the meetings in Pakistan. We have no further comments at this stage,” FIFA spokesman told this correspondent.
The sources said that the mission would also visit the PFF headquarters in Lahore and inspect the damage the building has received during the last three years. The PFF secretariat had been in the possession of the PFF’s rival group. It was only a few days back that the PFF regained the headquarters thanks to the LHC order which validated the June 30, 2015, elections of the PFF.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court issued notices to the parties concerned in an appeal filed by the PFF’s rival group against the LHC’s verdict. It has not yet fixed a date for hearing.
