Senate body for sports infrastructure in less developed areas [Pak Observer]

Islamabad—Senate Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas on Friday recommended that sports infrastructure should be constructed in less developed areas of the country.

The committee met here at Parliament House in chair of Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar. Members of the Committee Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, Samina Abid, Gianchand, Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini, Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi and Nisar Muhammad attended the meeting.

Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada was also present in the meeting. The committee recommended that more sports grounds should be established in less developed areas, specially various districts of Balochistan.

The committee said that Balochistan province produced talented players in football, adding that a football academy should be established to train players. The committee also recommended that the players be given opportunities in abroad to improve the declining ranking in football.

The committee also recommended that the stipend of Prime Minister’s Internship programme should be increased from Rs.12,000 to 20,000 for the interns of less developed areas specially Balochistan and FATA. The committee also recommended that more internship should be offered to the youth.—APP
