PIA shock KP White in Challenge Cup [APP]

PESHAWAR: International footballer left winger Zeeshan Ali steered PIA to a solitary goal victory against host Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White in the group-B match of the ongoing All-Pakistan Shama Challenge Football Cup being played at Sumbal Khan Football Ground, Qayyum Sports Complex on Wednesday.

International Footballer Zahid Ul Khair of National Bank was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of both Pakistan International Airlines and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal, Tournament Director Qazi Muhammad Asif, officials, players and spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling match.

Although the two teams exhibited excellent game yet they were failed to score any goal in the goal-less first-half. Both PIA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White have good goal-fetching chances but due to poor handling of the ball, especially in the danger zone, they were unable to score any goal.

It was in the 13th minute when right winger of PIA Waseem Ullah travelled past two defenders in front of the goal-post and gave a free ball to center striker Nasr Ullah whose attempt was nicely intercepted by KP White goal-keeper Usman.

KP White had earlier played against Islamabad and played a 2-2 draw, also display well against strong PIA and did not allow them to play with free hands. The front-line of KP White including Alamgir, Izhar, Samar, Imdad Ullah, Siraj played well along with mid-fielders Amir Saddique, Shakoor and Sadam.

Right from the kick back, PIA adopted offensive strategy by making some fine inroads with their forwards including Waseem Ullah, Nasr Ullah, Abdul Jabbar, Zeeeshan Ali and Shakil Lashari time and again shattered the rival defence.

The first-half was ended a goal-less draw and it was the second session in which PIA dominated the proceedings as a result it was in the 52nd minute when left wigner Zeeshan Ali netted a fine goal to make the tally 1-0. KP White team after conceding a goal tried their hard to level the tally but failed and thus PIA won the match by 1-0.

FIFA Referee Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah supervised the match while Abid Afridi, Muhammad Amin acted as deputy referees. – APP
