KARACHI: Pakistan midfielder Saadullah is confident he will be able to make his mark abroad after he returned from a stint with the Somos Sport Egyesu KFT in Hungary, saying he is expecting a call from the club next year.

Saadullah was previously a part of the four-time Pakistan Premier Football League champions KRL, and then went on to play for Maldivian club BG Sports for a season.

Now the 22-year-old is focusing on his plans for the next year as well as aiming to graduate with a bachelor’s degree back in his home town Pishin.

“The Hungarian experience was all that I could ask for in these bleak times for Pakistan football,” Saadullah told The Express Tribune. “I scored twice and provided an assist in three friendly matches for the club, and played with other third tier clubs and a university team as well. The coaches at Somos were happy. They told me that they might give me a call in February for trials.”

Saadullah said he also had an offer from another Maldives club which he had to refuse due to his exams, while he still has an offer to go to Brazil but would be unable to do so for the same reason.

The youngster said the dearth of Pakistani footballers in foreign clubs comes down to the national team not playing any matches in the last year-and-a-half.

“Usually the scouts spot potential talent in international matches, but the continuing drought in football here makes it hard for us to convince them of our abilities,” concluded Saadullah.
