KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) head coach Hassan Baloch has lauded his club’s decision to pick six local youth players from the recently concluded KE Lyari League and believes such a strategy would provide a huge lift to the game of football in the long run.

In Baloch’s opinion, the reward of trials with the club at the end of such tournaments will not only motivate the Lyari youth but also add to the pool of talent for the departmental team.

However, the former national team assistant coach was also quick to remind that it will take time for the U16 players to catch up with the seniors.

“It will certainly make a difference for Lyari’s youth and motivate others to come forward,” Baloch told The Express Tribune. “I’ve seen their local matches and there is a lot of talent.”

Baloch further talked up the Lyari youth by highlighting their domination at U12 and U16 levels. “We get very talented players in this age group from Lyari, however, grooming them is another story, but KE’s step just might make the difference.”

He further said that the KE youth players may get to tour Dubai in the near future for exposure. “It all depends on the management, but we know they want to promote football,” said Baloch.
