FIFA gives verdict in favour of Faisal-led group [Nation]

LAHORE – The FIFA’s associations member committee has finally decided the fate of Pakistan football in favour of Makhdom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat to lead the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

The sources told this scribe that the associations’ member committee meeting yesterday approved the Faisal-led PFF by recognising the elections held on June 30, 2015 at Changla Gali.

“The FIFA’s associations’ member committee has forwarded their decision and recommendations to FIFA executive committee who will give it final approval in its meeting on 26th of this month,” the sources said.

Earlier, the FIFA had clearly refused to support the administrator who was running the PFF affairs.

In their reply to the letter written by PFF administrator Justice (R) Asad Munir demanding the allocation of funds for PFF, the FIFA had categorically said in their reply that they were only in correspondence with PFF president Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat and secretary Lt Col (R) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi.

It has clearly indicated that they don’t bear any third party interference in their member associations’ affairs and recognise only those elected according to FIFA and AFC statutes.

The article 17 of FIFA statutes clearly says that they don’t believe in any third party interference and in case, rules and regulations are not followed, the world’s football ruling body takes stern action them.

It is pertinent to mention here that government of Pakistan has signed agreement with the IOC that it will only recognise those sports bodies who are recognised by their international parent bodies.

Now after the decision of FIFA on September 26 meeting, the government will have no other option but to recognise and support Faisal-led Pakistan Football Federation.
