KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has declared its intention to provide a helping hand to boost football by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Azad Foundation to promote the game at the grassroots level in the country.

The recently-signed MoU highlighted HBL’s pledge to support Street Children Team Pakistan and enable them to represent Pakistan on the world’s football stage.

Aman Aziz Siddiqui, Head of Investments and Strategy, HBL, and Naveed Hasan Khan, Chairman of the Management Committee, Azad Foundation, signed the agreement. Also present at the occasion were Group heads and other senior management of both organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddiqui vowed to provide all the necessary support for the cause.

“Our prayers are that these super stars present here today make Pakistan proud. HBL for its part will do the utmost to ensure that they have all the tools that they require to win more laurels,” he said.

“Azad Foundation was established to take children off the streets. Football is but one way in which we have managed to achieve this, by the grace of God. We are grateful that an organisation such as HBL believes in our mission,” Naveed Khan said.

HBL and Azad Foundation also celebrated Team Pakistan’s bronze medal in the Street Children Football World Cup held in Rio de Janeiro in March-April.
