FPDC Stories: Ashar Gurwara, “I want to represent my country.”

By Ashar Gurwara

I started playing football back in 2006 since then I’m playing with dedication and commitment, after that I joined Zamzama United FC (Karachi) where I played for 5 years and left in 2011. I have participated in many tournaments, like Energile tournament in 2009 where my team got knocked out by Gharib Shah, last year I won the inter DA school championship which was my first trophy.

This year my team participated in one of the biggest school level championship in Karachi named Zamzama United school championship where we reached the finals by beating BVS Parsi but unfortunately lost the finals to Karachi Grammar school. This tournament boosted my Football career as I won the golden boot and the most valuable player of the tournament and was approached by Nixor College to play for them in the future on a scholarship.

I was approached by a sports Magazine named Official sports where they interviewed me related to my football. I loved all this but it’s not enough I want more I want to represent my country. We have a lot of talent in Pakistan it’s not just me there are thousands of kids who are waiting for a chance, I’m only 16 years old and I think I still have the chance to prove myself I want to get known for my football.

I’m dying for a chance and I think this is the right place where I can express myself, I want to be at a higher platform, my goals are not achieved yet but I will achieve my goal very soon Insha’Allah.
