LAHORE: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) missed the chance to go level on points with Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) leaders Wapda after they were beaten 3-1 by Mohammad Ishtiaq-inspired Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) here on Thursday.
Despite taking the lead through Mohammad Imran’s goal in the 11th minute at the Model Town Football Academy, PAF were undone by Ishtiaq’s double either side of half-time.
Ishtiaq levelled matters in the 15th before putting PIA ahead in the 86th before Ali Ahsan sealed victory in injury time as PIA moved to 36 points from 23 matches. PAF, who have played 21 games, have 39 points, and remain three behind Wapda.
Army moved to 32 points after 19 games after Imran Hussain’s strike in the 27th minute gave them a 1-0 victory over Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in the other match on Thursday at the Battle-X Football Ground.—Agencies
