KARACHI, Oct 23: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) put Lyallpur FC firmly back in their place with a 1-0 victory over the Faisalabad outfit in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) here on Wednesday.

Newly-promoted Lyallpur went into the game on the back of their first victory in the league when they stunned Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 1-0 on Monday but they were taken apart by an NBP side who could have won by a greater margin.

NBP missed chance after chance at the KMC Stadium and their profligacy in front of goal would’ve cost them if Abbas Ali hadn’t scored the winner a minute from time.

NBP moved up to third place on 16 points, five behind leaders Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), after eight matches while Lyallpur remained on five from eight.

HBL’s bid to recover from their shock defeat to Lyallpur in their previous match, saw them being held to a goalless draw by Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) at the KPT Stadium.

HBL moved to 12 points from 10 games with ZTBL four behind, having played one game less than their fellow bankers.

Pakistan Navy are a point ahead of ZTBL after Asif Baksh’s strike gave them a 1-0 victory against Baloch FC in the third PPFL game of the day at the Korangi Baloch Stadium.
