PPFL: PIA postpone match against Navy [Tribune]

KARACHI: The Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) rule of fielding only a B-certified coach in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) came into play when PIA chose to postpone their fixture with Navy in Karachi yesterday.

PIA’s coach Shamim Khan, who is also attending a PFF meeting in Lahore, requested the federation to postpone the match to October 11, according to the match commissioner Ali Nawaz.

Another official said that the reason for the postponement of the match was also the fact that only Khan is permitted to take his team to the field since his assistant coach is not qualified according to PFF’s standards.

“PIA’s assistant coach cannot lead the team in any PPFL matches because of the PFF rule,” the official told The Express Tribune. “A club needs to be headed by a B-certified coach or else they have to pay a penalty fee.”
