KUSC 2013 Round-up 26-27 January

The KMC Stadium witnessed plenty of action in the 8th Karachi United Schools Football Championship 2013 on 26-27 January as the event came close to completing its group stage.

On 26 January, 4 results were decided as Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, The City School PAF, Nixor College, and Bayview College won their respective games to qualify for the pre-quarterfinal stage.

In Group A, defending champions Nixor College thrashed Beacon Light School 8-0. Goals from Asad Iqbal, Abdullah, Usman Kamal (2), Daniyal Soomro (2), and Umar Saleem Palla (2) helped Nixor win the game with ease.

In Group B, City School PAF beat BVS Parsi High School 3-1. City School PAF raced to 3-0 lead with goals from Tabish and a brace from Ali Asghar. Only Abdullah Anwar could respond for BVS Parsi late in the game.

In Group C, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School eased past Army Public School 3-0 with a brace from Yasir Shah and a goal from Shaaz. Group D saw Bayview College thrash Springfield School 4-0 thanks to goals from Ahmed Khanani (penalty), Wasay Khan (2), and Shabbir Hanif.

In other news, the All-Pakistan NBP Football Cup at Colony Sports Stadium in Malir, Karachi returned. Wasif Memorial (DFA Central) beat Usmanabad Union 3-2 in a pulsating tie. A brace from former youth international Fahim Shah and a goal from Saleem Khan helped Wasif Memorial reach the next round while Tariq also scored a brace for Usmananabad Union.

On 27 January 2013, 4 more teams reached the pre-quarters stage of KUSC 2013. Southshore School, City School Gulshan, Bahria College, Cordoba School all reached the next round by winning their respective matches at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground in Garden West, Karachi.

In Group E, Southshore eased past Foundation Public School 3-0 to win their group. Daniyal Khan scored twice while Momin Aamir scored once for the winning side in a one-sided game. National coach Zahid Taj was chief guest for the game.

City School Gulshan joined Southshore by finishing 2nd in Group E after a 3-0 win over Beaconhouse North Nazimabad. Hatim Jabbar and Shaji (2) scored for TCS Gulshan in their step to the next round.

Bahria College edged Beaconhouse Jubilee 2-0 to reach the next round thanks to goals from Saif ul Hasan and Muhammad Jamil.

In Group B, Cordoba School eased past City School Darakhshan 3-0 to reach the next round. Goals from Anas Maqsoor, Shahzeb Saleem, and Umar Hanif helped Cordoba School reach next round.

Referees were Saleem Babar, Farrukh Riaz, Babar Khan, Dad Rehman, M Rizwan, M Anwar, Saleem Hussain, and Abdul Malik with match commissioner Muhammad Shamim.

In other news, Jamil Shaheed (DFA East) and Young Azad (Korangi) beat Malir Students and Jahangir Memorial (DFA Central) respectively to reach next round of the All-Pakistan NBP Football Cup being held at Colony Sports Stadium in Malir, Karachi.

Jamil Shaheed FC edged Malir Students 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick by Ehsan Khan. Shehryar and Amir Siddiqui responded for Malir Students in a pulsating tie. Young Azad eased past 9-men Jahangir Memorial 4-0. Farhan scored a hat-trick while Fahad also joined the scorers list.

Malir National and Shahbaz Mohammedan face each other in next game.
