KGS knocked out of KUSC 2013

Army Public School (APS) stunned everyone when they knocked out 5 time winners Karachi Grammar School (KGS) from the 8th Karachi United Schools Football Championship 2013 on penalties.

APS confirmed their place in the KUSC quarter-finals at the expense of KGS at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground in Garden West, Karachi on 4 February 2013. Nixor College also confirmed their place in next round with an easy 4-0 win over The City School Gulshan in other pre-quarterfinal game.

Army Public School defied all expectations to first hold KGS 1-1 despite being down to 10 men for most of the game. APS went 1-0 up after a goal from Faraz in 1st half, but KGS responded through Ahmed Gharib in 2nd half to make it 1-1. The score remained the same till end of normal time and extra time periods, forcing the penalty shoot-out. APS kept their cool as Talha Younas, M Ali, Sheram, and Faraz converted their penalties, while only Saad Sardar and Ahmed Gharib could convert theirs for KGS as APS won 4-2 in the end.

The other game at the same venue saw defending KUSC champs Nixor College make easy work of TCS Gulshan with goals from Shehryar Jehangir, Muhammad Ali Shah, Umar Saleem Pallah (2) to win 4-0 in the end and reach the quarter-finals.

Referees were Abdul Malik, M Anwar, Dad Rehman, and match commissioner Khalid Majeed.

Shahbaz Mohammedan beat All Brothers in NBP Cup

The 7th All-Pakistan National Bank Football Cup 2013 at Colony Sports Stadium in Malir, Karachi saw another result.

Shahbaz Mohammedan beat fellow Malir side All Brothers 3-1 on penalties after a 0-0 draw to reach the next round.

Faisal, Inayat, Shehzad all scored from the sport for Shahbaz Mohd while only Aurangzeb could respond for All Brothers.
