NBP Peace Cup, All-Sindh Tournament results

The All-Pakistan National Bank Peace Football Cup 2012, organised by DFA South in Karachi, saw the completion of many group stage games in last 2 days at Shaheed Abdur Rehman Baloch Football Stadium in Gabol Park (Lyari).

On 4 December, 4 games were held. In Group B, DFA East beat DFA Hyderabad 2-1 while in Group C, DFA West eased past DFA Jacobabad 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals.

DFA East past DFA Hyderabad thanks to goals from Aqeel Ahmed and Bilal Uddin, while DFA Hyderabad’s Shahid scored as well. DFA West had Adnan Sakhi, Noman Ali, and Azhar Saleh to thank for their goals in an easy victory over DFA Jacobabad.

However, DFA West’s Shakir and Pervaiz will miss their next game against DFA Lasbela owing to suspension following their second yellow cards in the game.

Tournament’s chief organiser Ikhlaq Ahmed revealed that due to DFA Mirpur Khas’ late admission into the NBP Peace Cup, the tournament will also include quarter-finals stage before the semi-finals.

In Group A, hosts DFA South were held 0-0 by Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) after KWSB had beaten DFA Central 1-0. Gwadar Port Authority had beaten DFA South 2-0 after a 1-1 draw with DFA Central. The results left KWSB and GPA with 4 points each after 2 games while DFA Central and DFA South have a point each.

In Group B, DFA East had beaten Sindh Govt Press (SGP) 1-0. In Group C, DFA West had beaten Pak Public Works Dept (PPWD) 2-0, but PPWD responded by beating DFA Lasbela 2-0. Group C sees DFA West now standing at 6 points from 2 games while PPWD has 3 points from 2 games and DFA Lasbela remains on 0 points.

Group D matches will commence shortly. On 5 December, Gwadar Port Authority face KWSB in Group A while SGP face DFA Hyderabad in Group B.

The All-Sindh Qazi Abdur Rasheed Bhatti Invitational Football Cup saw 3 games being played at Municipal High School Ground in Nawabshah under auspices of Pak Sports FC.

Firdaus FC (Nawabshah) beat DFA Khairpur 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. In normal time, Saeed scored for Firdaus FC while Aakash scored for DFA Khairpur.

The other encounter saw two Nawabshah teams face off. with Aslam Azad FC beating King Baloch FC 3-1. Zubair, Aqeel, and Faisal had scored for Aslam Azad while Yaqoob managed lone reply for King Baloch.

The 3rd game saw Mirpur Khas side Mehrab XI pull off a sensational 10-9 shoot-out win over Nawabshah’s renowned Al-Shabaz FC after the game had ended 0-0 in normal time.

The winning sides qualified for next round of the tournament.
