Sanaullah shines as Baloch FC upset NBP

KARACHI: Sanaullah struck a hat-trick as Nushki’s Baloch FC pulled off a big upset when they crushed National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 4-1, while Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), powered by Kaleemullah’s treble, once again took lead at the summit after overpowering PMC Athletico 3-0 in the 9th Pakistan Premier Football League on Friday.

At the Nushki Stadium in Nushki, Baloch FC, fighting to avert relegation, did a fine job to outgun a strong National Bank side. The feat took them to 12 points from 19 games.

Baloch FC got onto the scoresheet through Sanaullah in the seventh minute. In the 17th minute they fired another through Khalil Ahmad before Sanaullah further enhanced their tally in the 30th minute. Baloch FC kept pressure on the visitors and following a few incisive rallies, Sanaullah took their lead to 4-0 with a fine strike on the stroke of half time to complete his first hat-trick of the season.

After the breather, Baloch FC went on the defensive and National Bank had to make efforts for finding gaps.

In the 75th minute National Bank were reduced to ten men when Misbah-ul-Hasan was sent off by the referee and it was only in the 84th minute that Adam Hameed fired a consolation goal for them.

The loss left National Bank at 30 points from 20 meetings.

National Bank managed only two points in their Balochistan round as they were held by Afghan FC and Muslim FC in earlier matches.

At the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi, Kaleemullah scored his sixth hat-trick of the season to guide the defending champions to a convincing victory over PMC Athletico, which stretched their tally to 46 points from 18 meetings.

After the goalless first half, Kaleem struck in the 66th, 86th and 89th minutes to shepherd the hosts to their 14th triumph. The hat-trick inflated Kaleem’s tally to 22.

In the 81st minute PMC Athletico skipper Haroon Yousuf was shown red card for charging the rivals striker in the area

“It was a tough game as PMC offered resistance but I had told the boys not to accept any dictation from the rivals and we finally won the game,” KRL coach Tariq Lutfi told ‘The News’.

“In the second half, the rivals went down and we fully capitalised on the opportunity,” added Lutfi.

Kaleemullah was declared the best player of the match.

Eight players of KRL are going to join the national team camp on Saturday (today) for Singapore tour and KRL will now play their next game on November 22 after their players return from abroad.

Today’s fixtures: PAF v WAPDA (PAF Complex Ground, Peshawar), Afghan FC v KPT (Government High School, Chaman).
