The group stage of the Chief Minister Punjab International Football Cup 2012, part of the Punjab International Sports Festival 2012, came to a close on 13-14 November 2012 at Punjab Stadium in Lahore.
On 13 November, Punjab Green beat Red Sun Sports Club from Sri Lanka by 3-0. This was the 5th match of the tournament and both the teams had failed to qualify for final. WAPDA striker Arif Mehmood netted twice & Waseem Abbass got one for the winners to finish in 2nd place of their group after losing 2-1 to FK Bor previously.
In the last league match played today, Punjab White held Erchim FC, champions of Mongolia, to a 1-1 draw. Punjab White took the lead in the 29th min when Rizwan Safdar scored from 8 yards to give Punjab White their 1st goal of the event. Erchim managed to level in the 70 min through Tsagaantsooj Enkhtur. There were no further goals and the draw was a fair result for this match.
The final of the event shall be played tomorrow, 15 November, at 1900 hours between FK Bor (Serbia) & Shaab Ibb FC (Yemen).
