FK Bor of Serbia win CM Punjab Cup final

The Chief Minister Punjab International Football Cup 2012 reached its climax last night, 15 November 2012, as part of the Punjab International Sports Festival 2012 being held at Punjab Stadium, Lahore.

Serbia’s FK Bor side fought hard to beat Yemeni side Shaab Ibb FC 3-2 in the final to be crowned champions. Bor took the lead after just 2 minutes when Milos Pejic headed in from a corner.

The Yemenis equalized in the 25th min with Redwan Abdul Jabbar’s free-kick. Shaab Ibb then went in front when their Nigerian player James Teddy scored in the 37th min to lead 2-1 at half-time.

FK Bor made a few changes for 2nd half and it proved masterful tactical change as  Nikola “Džoni” Jovanovic scored in the 79th min to make the score 2-2. The equaliser boosted Bor’s confidence as they went all out for the winner and in the 82nd min Jovanovic scored his 2nd & Bor’s 3rd and decisive goal in the final.

The 3-2 scoreline gave the Serbian side a historic victory in the CM Punjab Cup final. The event marked FK Bor as the first European football ever to visit Pakistan & play in a competitive event here.

After the match, Chief Guest Mian Naseer(MPA) & DG Punjab Sports Board, Usman Anwar distributed the prizes among the players & match/event officials.
