Baloch FC hold PIA 0-0 in PPFL

KARACHI: Baloch FC held Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to a goalless draw in their match of the 9th Pakistan Premier Football League held at the Nushki Stadium in Nushki on Saturday.

“It was a good game as both sides played tough football,” PIA coach Shamim Khan told ‘The News’ from Nushki.

This was the first productive game for PIA in their round in Balochistan which helped them inflate their tally to 18 points from 19 meetings.

PIA had lost both their games in Chaman. They had lost to Afghan FC 0-1 and conceded the other match to Muslim FC 0-2.

“The referee supervised the match fairly well and I am happy with the way we have been treated here,” said Shamim, a former international.

“Our top eight players did not take part in the match due to fitness problems,” Shamim said.

Baloch FC, who at one stage were in deep trouble, have started improving their position as they moved to 16 points from 21 matches. They, however, need a few more good performances to avoid relegation. Lahore’s Wohaib Club are at the rock bottom and it seems that they would not be able to ensure their seat for the next season as they have only eight points from 19 meetings.

Wohaib Club, owned by former PFF secretary Hafiz Salman Butt, are playing in the top league after spending four years in relegation.

On Sunday (today), there will be a rest day as the PFF have rescheduled the matches due to national team’s tour of Singapore.
