Former national champions WAPDA beat fellow Lahore side Wohaib FC 2-0 in the 9th Pakistan Premier Football League 2012 earlier today, 8 September 2012, at Fame FC Ground in Model Town Block A&B in Lahore.
The one-sided game, held under a beautiful monsoon weather with floodlights, saw WAPDA break down Wohaib’s defence with 2 goals early on in 2nd half through young international midfielder Muhammad Ahmed and then through talismanic captain Arif Mehmood.
WAPDA’s bright start to the PPL 2012 continued with this emphatic win and Muhammad Ahmed was named best player of the match.
The game was the first time Fame FC Ground was ever used to host a Pakistan Premier League fixture. Wohaib FC have designated the ground as their home venue following approval from Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
Chief guest for the game was local MNA, Sheikh Rohail Asghar (PML-N), as well as PFF general secretary Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, and director operations Pervaiz Saeed Mir, and Pakistan national team coach Zavisa Milosavljevic, as well Fame FC officials Zia Dogar, Tajammal Ahmed Khan, Shumail Anjum Attari, Amir Mehmood, Talal Rana, and Haider Imran Bokhari.
Fame FC officials expressed their immense gratitude towards PFF for allowing Fame Ground in Model Town to become an official venue for the Premier League.
