Rashid Latif praised for RLCA Football Cup

The Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) initiative of promoting football received glowing tributes from important football officials across Karachi.

Former Pakistan Test cricket captain, ex-wicketkeeper, and RLCA chairman Rashid Latif was praised for the success of the 1st ever All-Pakistan RLCA Ramazan ul Mubarak Floodlit Football Cup that was held at RLCA Ground in Korangi #5.

Karachi Electrical Supply Company (KESC) after they edged out 9 times national champions Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in the RLCA Cup final 2-1 on 13 August 2012.

The event featured 12 teams from across Karachi – with all 5 DFAs and 7 department sides taking part. What was also worth noting was the return of the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) football team that took part in a football event after a 12 year hiatus.

It was hoped that the RLCA will also regularly hold football events side by side with its famed cricket activities. The RLCA Ramazan Cup organisers, including tournament director Syed Nasir Ismail (NBP, Pak football team coach) and match commissioner Riaz Ahmed (KUFF), were given praise for making it a success.

The praises came from DFA East vice presidents Syed Usman Shah, Zameer ul Islam, DFA Malir president Fateh Muhammad Baloch and secretary Shahid Taj, DFA West president Zafar Iqbal and secretary Rahim Bakhsh, DFA Central vice presidents Saleem Patni and Muhammad Shamim, DFA South president Gulab Baloch and secretary Jan Muhammad, FC Rovers captain Ammar Sharif, Karachi United Football Foundation (KUFF) directors Syed Imran Ali, Taha Alizai, Adeel Rizki and others.
