KARACHI: Ali Adeem Shehzad’s lone strike on penalty in the first half enabled Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to set up final date with KESC when they defeated National Bank 1-0 in the semifinal of the 1st RLCA All Pakistan Floodlight Football tournament here at the RLCA Ground in Korangi on Sunday night.
The final was scheduled to be held on Monday night at 11:05pm. The NBP-PIA match remained interesting with both sides offering tough resistance to each other. PIA got onto the scorehseet in the 11th minute through Ali Adeem Shehzad who converted a penalty, which was awarded by the referee after the ball had hit the bankers’ guest player Naveed Ahmad’s hand in the penalty area.
At half time, PIA were leading 1-0. After the breather a hectic battle was witnessed but the bankers failed to bring an equaliser. In the 71st minute, National Bank skipper Abdul Aziz was sent off with a straight red card.
National Bank’s Farooq Shah, Wasim Qadir and Misbah-ul-Hasan were also shown yellow cards, while PIA’s left-back Waseemullah was shown double yellow card, which means he will not be able to represent his side in the final.
Final will be played on 13.8.2012. Asif Hsnain MNA and WC (R) Pervaiz Saeed Mir to be the chief guest.
