The group stage of the 1st RLCA All-Pakistan Ramazan ul Mubarak Floodlit Football Cup reached its conclusion last night, 8 August 2012, when Karachi Port Trust (KPT) topped Group A with a narrow 1-0 win over Pakistan Steel at the RLCA Ground in Korangi #5, Karachi.
The decisive goal for KPT was scored by Zafar Majeed as his 25-yard freekick found the back of the net in 25th minute. Pak Steel tried to equalise in 2nd half, but KPT’s defence proved to strong as they won 1-0.
KPT finished with 6 points from 2 games to reach the quarter-finals. Pak Steel joined them in next round on better goal-difference despite being on 1 point same as other Group A team DFA Central.
Referees for the game were Anees Akhtar, Latif Sr., Babar Khan, Abdul Wahid, and match commissioner Riaz Ahmed. The game was attended by DFA East vice-president Zamir ul Islam as chief guest.
The top 2 sides in each of the 4 groups reached the quarter-finals. The quarter final line-up now reads:
