Despite the turbulent situation across Karachi, the All-Karachi Syed Iftikhar Ali Shaheed Football Tournament was successfully held by Karachi Sports (Gulbahar) at Sir Abdullah Haroon Football Stadium (Khajji Ground) under the organisation of Mutahir Hussain.
Golimar Mohammadan (DFA West) and Khaleeq Memorial (DFA Central) faced each other in the final after having overcome Shabir Memorial and Shakil Shaheed in the semis respectively. Khaleeq Memorial took the lead through Sher Muhammad but Golimar Mohammadan responded just before the end when Ubaid forced the game into a penalty tiebreaker with an equaliser.
Golimar Mohammadan held their nerve and won 4-3 on penalties to be crowned champions. Referees were Akhtar Ali, Abid Ali, M Anwar, and match commissioner Irfan Ahmed. Senior football journalist, KUFF official, and president of Irfan Memorial FC (Landhi), Riaz Ahmed was chief guest at the final. He praised the organisation of the tournament and vowed his full support to Mutahir Hussain’s football activities at Khajji Ground in future.
A total of 16 teams took part in the 15 day event.
