DFA South XI proved too strong for the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) team in the RLCA Ramazan Floodlit Football Cup in an easy 4-0 win at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) Ground in Korangi #5, Karachi yesterday night, 31 July 2012.
The Group B encounter between the two sides proved to be heavily in favour of DFA South as striker Siraj Latif scored inaugural hat-trick of the tournament.
KWSB had their backs to the wall from the start as DFA South piled on the pressure. Siraj Latif opened the scoring after just 4 minutes, before doubling his tally and the score to 2-0 in 14th minute past a hapless KWSB goalkeeper. Pacey winger Zaheer Ahmed made it 3-0 just before half-time from a Shaheen cross.
KWSB attempted to reduce deficit in 2nd half but DFA South were not to be denied. Siraj Latif completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0 in 51st minute as DFA South won comfortably in the end.
The game was attended by former international goalkeeper Abdul Ghani (KPT) as chief guest who met both teams at half time. Also present were RLCA founder and former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif, national coach Nasir Ismail et al. Match Referees were Saleem Musa, Habibullah, Saleemuddin Babar, 4th official Abdul Wahid while Riaz Ahmed was Match Commissioner.
The next game of tournament on 2 July 2012 sees DFA Malir vs DFA West. As many as twelve teams, including key outfits like PIA, NBP, KESC and Karachi Port Trust (KPT), are showing their worth in the tournament. The final will be held on August 14.
