On August 1 Wednesday the GSA D Goal Ramadan tournament saw two more sides progress into the second round.
1- Hydrogen FC 3 – 0 Illegal Strikers
Star Performer – Nabeel (Hydrogen FC) – The fleet footed forward was irresistible and produced a great performance.
The game started at frantic pace as both teams produced end to end football and missed great changes one after another. It was off a free kick that Taha struck past the last Illegal Striker player that gave the game a 1-0 scoreline. The second half was same and M. Ali led the fight for the strikers and produced a few very good chances but luck did not favor the strikers and eventually Nabeel produced a good second goal and finally a penalty resulted in the third goal.
2- Counter Strike FC 1- 3 Bafana
Star Performer – Asad and Athar – The two players are selected for different reasons because one was a bulldozer up forward and the other showed unbelievable pace and energy over the two halves.
The team from Steel Town Counter Striker started off brightly with some nice passing moves but Asad produced some magic. His turn and shot was not just forceful but at a frantic pace and is easily one of the better goals of the tournament. Kashif Ali made it two nil before Counter Strike FC started to push men forward leaving them short at the back and Tehseen made it 3-0 before Sadaqat pulled one back for Counter Strike. The team led by Sami Ullah might have lost but showed good fight till the end. Bafana like last year stay sharp and expect last editions top scorer Kashif Zafar back in the next game.
Goal Challenge Winner – M.Ali (Illegal Strkers) – His team might have lost but the player kept his cool to win the Goal Challenge and collected cash. The goal challenge is held at the half time of each match in which a player from each team competes to score. M. Ali is featured in a pic.
