Karachi United qualify for KFL final

Karachi United FC moved into Final of 9th Karachi Football League 2011-12 with a determined 2-0 win over Korangi Baloch FC Sharafi 2-0 in the first semi final being played at Baloch Mujahid Stadium, Ibrahim Hyderi on Tuesday Ist May 2012.

The Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hydri was the host side dominates their opponents from the start. Karachi United began with confidence as its strikers Rehan Munir, Kareem Kerai, Athar Qadri and Danial Alvi put the Korangi Baloch defence under immense pressure from their fast paced attacks. It wasn’t long before Karachi United went ahead when 16 years old Kareem Kerai scored from Athar Qadri cross in 18 minute making 1-0 up.

Karachi United then could double their lead in 39th minute when Danial Alvi flicked from Rehan Muneer cross but opponent goal keeper Rustam Baloch saved surprisingly. The score remained 1-0 at half time in favour of Karachi United.

In 2nd half, Korangi Baloch showed a significantly better performance as they attempted to reduce the deficit. Korangi Baloch FC strikers Captain Abdul Hafeez, Aqeel Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar Jr. and Zainul Abedin worked hard to create openings but failed to beat Karachi United International and SAFF Games two times Gold Medalist Mohammad Shazad.

Abdul Hafeez came close to scoring twice but failed to take his chances, while Aqeel Ahmed and Abdul Jabbar Jr. also wasted opportunities to score. In 63rd minute Kareem Kerai taken a corner kick and Danial Alvi converted into goal by a beautiful header in the goal area making it 2-0.

At the final whistle, Karachi United was all smiles with their first ever appearance in the final of 9th edition of Karachi Football League. Referees were Habibullah, Saleemuddin Babar and Babar Khan and Match Commissioner Abdul Karim.

In the Second Semi Final Kalri Star Lyari will face Burma Mohammedan at 4:00 pm on 4th May 2012 (Friday) at Baloch Mujahid Stadium, Ibrahim Hydri, Karachi. Final will be played on 6th May 2012.
