Karachi Football Round-up

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi Football League 2011-12 final will be played on Sunday, 6 May 2012, at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi.

Organisers Karachi United will face the winners of the Kalri Star (Lyari) vs Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) semi-final for the KFL crown. The final will kick-off at 7 PM with the 3rd place game between losing semi-finalists being played before it.

KFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed stated that KFL winners will be given Rs 100,000 prize, runners-up Rs 50,000 prize, and 3rd place getting Rs 20,000 prize. Fair Play Trophy, Player of the Tournament, and Top Scorer prizes will be worth Rs 10,000 each. Best Goalkeeper, Best coach, Emerging Player, and Best Referee prizes will be worth Rs 5,000 each.

Young Muslim (Orangi) will host the U16 Haq Parast Football Tournament from Sunday, 6 May, onwards at Young Muslim Ground in Orangi #5, Karachi.

The opening friendly match will see the hosts face National Soccer Academy (Paposh) at 6:30 PM. Organising secretary Zakir Khan stated that 8 teams will feature in knock-our format with final on 13 May 2012. Sindh MPAs from MQM, Manzar Imam and Saifuddin Khalid, will inaugurate the tournament.

Participating teams are National Soccer Academy, Young Muslim, Usama Sports, Frontier City, National Frontier, Orangi Mohammadan, and Liaquat Shah Club.

The mother of Irfan Memorial (Landhi) coach Muhammad Khalid passed away yesterday. Irfan Memorial president Riaz Ahmed, patron Syed Usman Shah, secretary Lala Rauf, coach M Nasir, captain Khurram Shehzad, and other officials and players of the club expressed their condolences for M Khalid’s mother and offered their prayers for the departed.
