KARACHI: Following a 0-3 drubbing at the hands of the Army United FC the other day, Pakistan Under-22 football team recorded their first win of their ongoing tour of Thailand when they defeated Bangkok Glass in their second practice game held on Thursday.
Junaid Qadir, who along with his other three teammates joined the team on Thursday morning, scored the winner for the Greenshirts in the 19th minute in Bangkok.
Bangkok Glass is a good team of the Thai Premier League and currently at No3 position in their Premier League after playing five matches.
“Following the joining of the four players, the team got rejuvenated and played well tactically,” Pakistan’s assistant coach Nasir Ismail told ‘The News’ from Bangkok after the match.
“Mohammad Sher also got an open chance in the last moments but missed it,” Nasir said.
The coach praised goalie Saqib Hanif for his splendid display.
“Saqib was excellent today as he saved five sure goals which gave us a chance to record a victory,” Nasir said.
Pakistan will play their next game against Osotspa, another Thailand club, on April 23. In their first game, Pakistan had missed their four key players Kaleemullah, Junaid Qadir, Mohammad bin Younis and Faisal Iqbal due to visa problems.
Pakistan are on a mission to prepare for the Asian Cup Qualifiers which will be held from June 23 to July 3.
