Kalri Star beat Karachi United in last KUFL Super League game

Tournament organisers Karachi United FC made it through to the semi-finals of the 9th Karachi United Football League 2011-12 despite a 0-3 Super League phase loss from Kalri Star (Lyari) last night 25 April 2012 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi.

Kalri Star dominated the opening exchanges as KUFC had to start without stars Rehan Munir (top scorer with 17 goals), Atif Sachak, and captain Hamza Khan. Mubashir Rasheed scored after 11 minutes from a Muhammad bin Lal cross. Sajjad Ali tried to equalise for Karachi United but his attempt was well-saved by Kalri Star goalkeeper Faraz Ahmed in 16th minute.

Kalri Star then scored twice more to complete the 3-0 win with 2 goals from Gul Sher (55′ and 67′). Karachi United tried to reduce the deficit but Kareem Kerai, Taha Alizai, and Taha Rehman failed to score in the 2nd half.

Referees were Saeed Khan, Babar Khan, M Kamran, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.

The match brought the KUFL Super League stage to a close with a total of 118 games – 28 in Super League round – being played. Kalri Star topped the SL phase with 16 points, Karachi United 2nd on 14 points, Korangi Baloch (Sharafi) 3rd with 12 points, and Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) 4th with 11 points. Burma Mohammadan finished above former KFL champions Baloch Youth (Garden) courtesy of a better goal difference.
