Home side Korangi Baloch (Sharafi) opened their account in the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 Super League phase with a narrow 3-2 win over Irfan Memorial (Landhi) at the Korangi Baloch Stadium yesterday, 6 March 2012.
Korangi Baloch went 2-0 up in opening 14 minutes thanks to goals from Amjad Anjum scoring from an Asghar Ali pass in 10th minute, which was followed up by a 20 yard shot from Abdul Jabbar Jr. from an Aqeel Ahmed pass 4 minutes later. Irfan Memorial struck back from a Shoaib Khan strike from Shahbaz Samoo’s pass in 25th minute to make it 2-1 by half-time.
In 2nd half, Abdul Jabbar Jr. again scored from Amjad Anjum’s pass in 52nd minute to make it 3-1 for Korangi Baloch. Irfan Memorial managed a late 91st minute goal from Abdullah when he headed home a cross from winger M Zubair to make it 3-2 but it was too late for an Irfan Memorial comeback. Referees were M Umar Baloch, Babar Khan, Mehboob Khan, and match commissioner H.M.Hanif.
Both sides met chief guest Mushtaq Ahmed, founder of Korangi Union FC at half time as he was introduced to the players by KUFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed alongside other officials.
