Salar Welfare Centre deny Askani Brothers’ win in Engro League

Amin Chottu’s injury time equaliser rescued a point for Salaar Welfare Centre (Malir) as they held Askani Brothers (Baldia Town) 1-1 in their Group B clash of the 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League held at Jam Stadium (Malir, Karachi) yesterday 11 Feb 2012.

The match saw Salaar Welfare Centre goalkeeper Adeel Rasheed deny many opportunities to the opposition from increasing their lead, before team mate Amin Chottu stunned them right at the end. Adeel Rasheed won the Rs 500 Man of the Match cash prize at the end from ex-national player Asif Shah (HBL) for his performance. Salaar WC now have 5 points from 3 games, with Askani Brothers on 2 points from 2 games.

Askani Brothers were left begging as poor finishing let them down time and again and had to deal with sharing the points with Salaar WC. Askani forwards Imam Bakhsh, Noor Hassan, Zubair Jr., and Bahadur Ali failed to increase their lead before Amin Chottu’s stunning late equaliser.

Askani Brothers played much better than their opponents from the start as they went 1-0 up inside 36 minutes as Noor Hassan scored from a Bahadur Ali pass to lead the score at half time. Salaar WC’s Abdul Salam came close to equalising in 52nd minute but his shot went the wrong side of the post after some good work to create a chance for himself. Noor Hassan then wasted another chance in 67th minute for Askani Brothers, before Amin Chottu missed a chance for Salaar WC just 5 minutes later. M Sharif missed again for Salaar WC in 75th minute, and then 5 minutes later Adeel Rasheed denied Imam Bakhsh the chance of make it 2-0.

Eventually, Amin Chottu latched on to a M Sharif pass, and he scored past Askani goalie Javed Ali to equalise in 91st minute to end the game 1-1. Referees were Anser Javed, Imran Hussain, Babar Khan, Arif Hameed, physio Shahjahan Baloch, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.
