Rovers thrash Usmanabad Union in KUFL

FC Rovers (Malir Cantt) hammered Usmanabad Union 4-1 in the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 Group A clash today, 14 Feb 2012. The encounter at Trans-Lyari Stadium in Old Golimar, Karachi was one-sided from start to finish as Rovers, who are also hosting and participating the 2012 Engro Vopak Football League at the same time, overwhelmed their rivals.

Raad-us-Salam gave Rovers the lead after just 6 minutes, which Irfan Junejo then doubled in 14th minute. Usmanabad Union managed to respond with a goal from M Imran in 25th minute when he scored from a Nasir Ali ball, making the score 2-1. FC Rovers did not budge as they maintained pressure in 2nd half and scored twice more.

Irfan Junejo was in inspiring form with his breathtaking dribbles, and passing game completely dominating the Usmanabad Union defence. Irfan scored his second of the game when he beat 2 players and slotted home to make it 3-1 in 51st minute. Irfan then provided the killer cross in 80th minute that allowed Hamza Shahid to head home and making it 4-1 for FC Rovers in the end.

The win helped FC Rovers reach 12 points from 8 games in Group A, while Usmanabad Union kept struggling with just 3 points from 7 games. Referees were Abdul Malik, M Imran, M Rizwan and match commissioner Iqbal Minhas.
