The 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League being played at Jam Stadium, Malir (Karachi) saw the results of two important games today, 9 February 2012. In Group A, Irfan Memorial (Landhi) thrashed Janbaz Sports (Sultanabad) 4-2 while in Group B, Sindh Muslim (Gizri) held home side Baloch FC Malir 1-1.
Irfan Memorial raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 4 minutes against Janbaz Sports. Zahoor Ahmed scored from a cross by left winger Ayaz Samoo after 2 minutes on the clock, before Sohail Qaisi scored from a Fazal Baloch pass 2 minutes later. Muhammad Shakir scored for Janbaz Sports in 24th minute to make it 2-1, but Sohail Qaisi scored again from another Fazal Baloch pass to make it 3-1 in 35th minute. Janbaz Sports struck again when Qasim Khan from a Jahangir Khan pass to make it 3-2 just 5 minutes before the break. In 2nd half, Irfan Memorial went 4-2 ahead as Khurram Shehzad scored from the spot as the Landhi side held on for a precious win. Irfan Memorial’s Abdullah was given Rs 500 Man of the Match award by DFA East vice-president Syed Usman Shah.
Sindh Muslim and Baloch Club struggled to score as it remained 0-0 at half time. Baloch Club went 1-0 up in 55th minute when Sabir Musa scored from a Fida Hussain cross, but Sindh Muslim substitute striker Muhammad Zain Baloch made it 1-1 just two minutes later when he headed home a M Nauman cross. Sindh Muslim could have gone 2-1 up in 67th minute but Sohail Allah Bakhsh struck the crossbar. At the end the game finished all-square 1-1 as both sides shared 1 point each. Sindh Muslim’s Asif Bakhsh was given Man of the Match award by FIFA referee Mohammed Iqbal Jr.
The results left Irfan Memorial and Baloch FC Malir both lying on 4 points from 2 games each, while Sindh Muslim and Janbaz Sports played the same number of matches but are on 1 point and 0 points each. Referees were Anser Javed, Aziz Pasha, Shaukat Ali, Imran Hussain, M Umar, Babar Khan, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.
