Reflections Inter-School Football underway in Karachi

The 2nd Reflections Inter-School Football Tournament 2012 is underway at Reflections School’s Korangi Crossing ground from 16-20 January 2012. The tournament features 12 school teams from across Karachi, divided in 4 groups of 3 teams each, and is for Class VIII students. The Groups are:

Group A: The City School PAF, The City School Darakhshan, Jaffar Public School
Group B: Reflections School, Education Bay School, Bay View Academy
Group C: The City School Nazimabad, Arts & Science School, Beaconhouse
Group D: Korangi Academy, Headstart School, Karachi Public School

The top team from each group qualifies for semi-finals after completion of group stage. Semis are scheduled for 19 January with final on 20 January.

The opening day, 16 January, saw two games. Group A saw hosts Reflections beating Education Bay 3-2 in an exciting encounter. Reflections struck with 2 goals from Ammad Najam (19′ and 32′) and one from Shayan Rashid (13′), while Education Bay scorers were Furqan Mohsin (4′) and Khizar Hayat (37′).

Group D then saw Korangi Academy hammer Headstart School a staggering 9-0. Yasir Ayaz scored 4 (1′, 13′, 14′, 22′) to register the first hat-trick of the tournament, while Saeed Anwar got 2 (10′, 27′), and Abdul Wahid (16′), Hanif Khan (25′), and Hamdan (38′) scored once each for Korangi Academy.

The tournament was inaugurated by Reflections School principal Qazi M. Salim as he welcomed all participant teams and expressed his delight on seeing young kids combine their passion for sports with their educational duties to succeed in the future. Aftewards, Reflections School team’s captain Sadiq Muhammad Ali took an oath with all participating players for upholding discipline and fair play in the tournament.

Referees were Riaz Ahmed, Habib Ullah, Ch. Sarfraz, referees inspector Khalid Majeed, coordinator Muhammad Haroon, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.
