“We have already made correspondence with a few central Asian countries and Afghanistan, but so far we have not received any response,” a senior official of the PFF told ‘The News’ on Wednesday. “An official of one of the central Asian countries has proposed that Pakistan should play with them on neutral venue in Dubai but we want to play with them in Pakistan as the security environment has improved.”
He said foreign teams should observe that recently Pak-China hockey series and an international boxing tournament were organised in Pakistan, which showed that the security environment in Pakistan has improved,” he pointed out.
He added that the coach Zavisa wants an immediate foreign tour for the team or to host a foreign side. “Afghanistan is also a good side and we are trying again to make a contact with them and to know whether they will be available for the friendly game against Pakistan.”
Afghanistan is a good side in football. Majority of their players are playing in Germany and the United States. They showed their strength when they reached final of the SAFF Championship held in India in December last year.
Coach Zavisa Milosavljevic has returned to Lahore after spending some time with his family in Serbia. He plans to start the national senior team camp for the FIFA friendly day show from February 15 in Lahore. The other day Zavisa told The News in an interview that 25 probables would be invited for the camp.
