Baloch Mohd. stun Drigh Road Union 4-3 in KUFL

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 saw a sensational Group ‘B’ tie today 6 January 2012 at the Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Baloch Mohammadan (Malir) came from 1-3 down to stun Drigh Road Union 4-3 at the end.

Drigh Road Union began the match strongly as the youthful Ehsan Faiz struck twice in first half (11′ and 39′) to be 2-0 up. Baloch Mohammadan managed to respond just before the half-time break when Waleed Yousaf scored a penalty to make it 2-1. The 2nd half also had a frantic pace as Umair Sharif’s 76th minute lob over Baloch Mohd goalkeeper Ayaz Ali made Drigh Road Union go 3-1 up with less than 15 minutes left on the clock.

The 3-1 scoreline looked unbeatable but Baloch Mohammadan rallied in the final minutes as international striker Muhammad Umar won a penalty from a Abid Khan foul, which he then scored in 79th minute to make it 3-2. Barely 2 minutes later, NBP & national coach Nasir Ismail scored from a M Umar cross to equalise for Baloch Mohammadan. With game tied a tense 3-3, Muhammad Umar stepped up to strike a stunning freekick to beat DRU keeper Jehangir Khan to make it 4-3 for his side and complete the sensational comeback for Baloch Mohammadan.

The win saw Baloch Mohammadan and Drigh Road Union each complete 8 games of the group stage to reach 13 and 3 points respectively. Referees were Ejaz Hussain, Abdul Wahid, and Ch. Sarfraz, while Abdul Karim was match commissioner.
