Irfan Memorial (Landhi) pulled off an upset in the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League (KUFL) 2011-12 with a 2-1 win over home side Korangi Baloch at Sharafi Stadium here on Saturday evening.
The 40th game of first phase out 90 for current KUFL season. Irfan Memorial comprehensively dominate Korangi Baloch from start, their strikers Abdullah, Fazal Baloch, Farhan Khan and Ayaz Samoon put the opposition to the sward as they scored 2 goals. Abdullah took early lead in the 15th min when receiving the cross from speedy left winger Ayaz Samoon while youth International Farhan Khan doubled the lead 2-0 in the 19th min from 25 meter distance by a powerful kick.
However, Korangi Baloch pulled once back just before half time when Abdul Hafeez scored by header in (45+2) min. Irfan Memorial 2-1 ahead in the lemon time.
In the second half Korangi Baloch attempted to make amend but strikers Abdul Jabbar Jr., Abdul Hafeez, Aqeel Baloch and Umair Baloch failed to overcome Ifran Memorial defence of Afzal Baloch, Shoaib Khan, Khurram Shazad, Zahoor Ahmed and goalie Kamran Khan early on.
No more goal in the stipulated time , Irfan Memorial come out from the ground with 2-1 win after the final whistle.
Irfan memorial sharing 2nd place in group ‘B’ with 11 points from 6 games along with Karachi United FC. Korangi Baloch still on top in Group “B” with 13 points from 7 games.
Referee Khalid Mumtaz supervised the match while Saeed Khan and Qari Tahir assisted him on the line. Abdul Karim was the Match Commissioner. This was the final match before the Ashura break. Matches resume from 11th December 2011.
