Muslim Star comeback stuns Drigh Road Union in 2-2 draw

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League saw Muslim Star (Korangi) come from 0-2 down to hold Drigh Road Union 2-2 in the end at Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi, Karachi yesterday 14 November 2011.

Muslim Star vs Drigh Road Union action

The 20th match of the current KUFL season saw Drigh Road Union race to a 1-0 lead before half-time in their Group ‘B’ clash against Muslim Star. Rizwan Chiragh scored after 13 minutes from the start to hand Drigh Road Union the lead. Then in 2nd half, Farooq Shahid’s 20 yard shot sailed past Muslim Star goalkeeper-captain Tahir Zaman as Drigh Road Union went 2-0 up in 59th minute. Farooq had previously come close twice before his goal as his efforts rattled the posts each time.

Muslim Star did not give up, and managed to stun Drigh Road Union with a superb performance as they clawed back to 2-2 in final 20 minutes of the match. Abdur Rehman reduced the deficit to 2-1 in 69th minute, only for substitute striker Habib Ullah to equalise for Muslim Star in 87th minute. The result gave both teams 1 point each, with Muslim Star on 2 points from 4 games while Drigh Road Union got 2 points from 3 games.

Referees were Aziz Pasha, Ghulam Ali, Chaudary Iqbal, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. The match was also attended by DFA East senior vice president Muhammad Rahim as chief guest, who met both sides at half time. Others present in the match were DFA East congress members M Imran, M Jamil, H M Hanif, DFA Malir vice president Ustad Haider Baloch, organising secretary Riaz Ahmed, Saleem Arif, Karim Bakhsh Chandio, Mir Hatim et al.

On Wednesday, 16 November, Al-Shabaz Korangi face Irfan Memorial Landhi at 3 PM kick off at Korangi Baloch Stadium.
