KUFL returns from Eid break with 3 games

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 returned from 1 week Eid-ul-Azha break with 3 matches held across Karachi on Sunday, 13 November 2011.

Sarmad Jafer (Baloch Youth FC, Garden)

Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground in Garden West hosted a Group ‘A’ clash between defending champions Baloch Youth FC (Garden) and Islah Baloch (Old Golimar). The defending champs easily won the game a resounding 4-0. Baloch Youth striker Sarmad Jaffar scored a superb hat-trick – the 6th of the event so far – as he became current top scorer with 5 goals to his name.

Sarmad scored in 6th, 22nd, and 44th minutes to complete his hat-trick, while Baloch Youth captain Aaqib Ayub scored a goal in 23rd minute as Islah Baloch were completely humiliated. The result left Baloch Youth on top of Group ‘A with 6 points from 2 games, while Islah Baloch remained on 1 point from 2 games.

Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi witnessed a Group ‘B’ clash as Madina Shabaz (Baldia Town) beat Gulshan Soccer 2-1. Gulshan Soccer took an early lead through Ali Abidi (6′) but Madina Shabaz struck back as Muhammad Hussain equalised just before half time in 40th minute.

In 2nd half, Madina Shabaz switched players as coach Saleem Hussain sent on Naseem Abbas for M Hussain in 63rd minute. The move paid dividends as Naseem Abbas gave Madina Shabaz a 2-1 lead with a goal in 74th minute. Madina Shabaz then held on for their 3 points as Gulshan Soccer suffered their 3rd successive defeat of the event. The result took Madina Shabaz to 5 points from 3 games while Gulshan Soccer remained pointless after same number of matches.

The other Group ‘B’ clash between Kalri Star (Lyari) and last year’s finalists Mauripur Baloch ended in a 1-1 draw at KMC Stadium. Javed Ibrahim gave Kalri Star the lead after 6 minutes which they maintained till half time. Mauripur responded by substituting Noor ul Ameen in for Salal Razzaq. The substitute then snatched an equaliser in 50th minute as the game eventually ended a tense 1-1 at the end, giving both teams 1 point each. The result left both teams on 2 points from 2 games each.

Match referees were Javed Iqbal, Saeed Khan, M Rizwan, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. On Tuesday, 15 Nov 2011, Islah Baloch face Usmanabad Union.
