KUFC Korangi Baloch tie 2-2, Baloch Mohdn crush Muslim Star

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 saw tournament hosts Karachi United FC come from 0-2 to hold Korangi Baloch (Sharafi) 2-2 in Group ‘B’, while Baloch Mohammadan (Malir) hammered Muslim Star (Korangi) 5-0 in other game played yesterday, 24 Nov 2011.

Rehan Munir was the star for Karachi United against Korangi Baloch as the game was played under floodlights at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. But it was Korangi Baloch who stunned KUFC from the start as they raced to a 2-0 lead at half time thanks to goals from Abdul Hafeez (13′) and Abdul Jabbar Jr. (24′).

Karachi United responded by laying seige to the Korangi Baloch goal. KUFC strikers Rehan Munir, Athar Qadri, Sajjad Ali, Usman Iqbal, and midfielders Karim Kerai, and Atif Sachak completely overwhelmed the opposition as they created tremendous chances to score. Eventually, Rehan Munir struck twice in 73rd and 75th minutes to reduce the deficit to a 2-2 score. 6 minutes later, Rehan could have completed a superb hat-trick but his shot cannoned off the crossbar.

KUFC created further chances in dying minutes but failed to score. Korangi Baloch had to rely on quick counter-attacks to hold on in match, with strikers Amjad Baloch and Aqeel Ahmed denied by KUFC goalkeeper Bilal Mehdi. Eventually the game finished an exciting 2-2 draw, with Rehan Munir topping the scoring charts with total 8 goals to his name in current KUFL season.

In other game played earlier in the day, Baloch Mohammadan completely dominated hapless Muslim Star at the Korangi Baloch Stadium as they easily won 5-0. Roshan Aziz (15′), Akbar Razzaq (30′), Naseem Akhtar (46′ and 58′), and Asif Hakeem (56′) scored for Baloch Mohammadan as they won the game. The match was attended by national football organiser Usman Baloch as chief guest, and he met both the teams at half time.

Referees were Javed Bangash, Aziz Pasha, Shaukat Ali, Chaudhary Iqbal, Naseer Umar, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. Karachi United top Group ‘B’ with 8 points from 4 games thanks to better goal difference, Korangi Baloch have 7 from 4 games, Baloch Mohammadan also have 7 points from 4 games, while Muslim Star are struggling with 2 points from 5 games.
