KUFC come from behind to beat Drigh Road Union

The 9th Karachi United Football League 2011-12, sponsored by UBL OMNI, on Tuesday (1 Nov 2011) saw the organisers Karachi United FC come from 0-1 down at half-time to annihilate Drigh Road Union 4-1 under floodlights at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Star striker Rehan Munir was in inspirational form with his two goals for KUFC as the organisers earned 3 points.

Karachi United vs Drigh Road Union

The match began with frantic pace as KUFC laid siege to Drigh Road Union’s goal. Karachi United strikers Rehan Munir, Taha Alizai, Usman Iqbal, and Atif Sachak came close to scoring but opposition goalkeeper Jahangir held them at bay. However, Drigh Road Union won a penalty against the run of play when United defender Hamza Khan handled the ball in the box. Nauman then stepped up and gave his side an unlikely 1-0 lead before half time as Atif Sachak’s shot hit the crossbar just before the whistle.

In 2nd half, Karachi United came back strongly but were unlucky not to equalise sooner with the chances they had. Usman Iqbal’s shot also hit the woodwork in 52nd minute and Atif Sachak missed an easy chance 2 minutes later. However, Rehan Munir put Karachi United back on level terms after a mazy run past two Drigh Road Union defenders to finish in 63rd minute.

10 minutes later, Atif Sachak finally got his name on the score sheet as KUFC now led 2-1. In 78th minute, Rehan Munir continued his magic as he beat 3 players before scoring to make it 3-1. Substitute striker Sajjad Ali ‘Carlos’ then made it 4-1 in 83rd minute as KUFC completed their comeback win at the final whistle.

Referees were Javed Bangash, Aziz Pasha, Shaukat Ali, Chaudhary Sarfraz, and match commissioner Master Ghulam Rasool. On Thursday (3 Nov 2011), Baloch Mohammadan (Malir) face Al-Shabaz (Korangi) at Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi.
