Korangi Baloch continue good start in KUFL

Korangi Baloch FC (Sharafi) kept their good start to the UBL OMNI 9th Karachi United Football League 2011-12 with a determined 2-0 win over Gulshan Soccer to top Group ‘B’ in current standings yesterday, Wednesday 2 November 2011.

The Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi, Karachi saw the home side dominate their opponents from the start. Korangi Baloch began with confidence as its strikers Amjad Baloch, Aqeel Ahmed, Abdul Hafeez, Abdul Jabbar Jr. put the Gulshan Soccer defence under immense pressure from their fast-paced attacks. It wasn’t long before Korangi Baloch went ahead when Aqeel Ahmed scored from a Abdul Jabbar Jr. cross in 23rd minute making it 1-0. The goal put Aqeel as the league’s current top scorer with 4 goals.

Korangi Baloch then doubled their lead in 36th minute with Abdul Wahid’s goal making it 2-0. The scoreline remained same time half time, during which former DFA Karachi member and Azam Sports president Haji Saleem met both teams as chief guest.

In 2nd half, Gulshan Soccer showed a significantly better performance as they attempted to reduce the deficit. Gulshan strikers Kashif Ali, Mudassar Sabir, and Sameer Zafar worked hard to create openings but failed to beat Korangi Baloch goalkeeper Rustam Baloch. Kashif Ali came close to scoring twice but failed to take his chances, while Gulshan captain Adam Jee also wasted an opportunity to score. In 89th minute, Abdul Hafeez almost made it 3-0 for Korangi Baloch but he failed to beat opposing goalkeeper Utaiba Sabir from a Amjad Baloch through pass.

At the final whistle, Korangi Baloch was all smiles with their second successive win of the campaign earning them another 3 points to top Group ‘B’, while Gulshan Soccer remained bottom ranked after 2 successive losses. Referees were Iqrar Hussain, Javed Bangash, M Umar, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.
