Karachi United Youth Football League begins with 2 friendlies

The U14 Karachi United Youth Football League, organised by the Karachi United Football Foundation (KUFF), in preparation of the event gave fans a treat with 2 splendid friendly matches yesterday, 12 Nov 2011, at National Soccer Academy Ground in North Nazimabad (Paposh), Karachi.

Venue hosts KUFF North Nazimabad Centre beat Gulshan Soccer Academy 1-0 in opening game, while KUFF North Karachi Centre beat KUFF Old Golimar Centre 3-0 in other friendly fixture of the day. The actual tournament will begin next week

North Nazimabad Centre vs Gulshan Soccer Academy

The friendlies were attended by ex-footballer and current member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) provincial organisation committee Mr Iftikhar Ali who met all 4 teams. Iftikhar Ali then distributed kits to the team coaches of all 6 KUFF centres across Karachi; Lyari, Korangi, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Malir, Old Golimar. Also present on the occasion were KUFF directors Imran Ali, Adeel Rizki, administrator Riaz Ahmed, head coach Arshad Jamal, coaches Abdul Ghani, Shafiq Baloch, Syed Sultan Ali, Mohsin Shah, Waheed Baloch, Shaukat Shehki, Farrukh Riaz, Shah Nabi et al.

KUFF North Nazimabad Centre had to thank Ubaid Khan for scoring the only and decisive goal of the game as they beat Gulshan Soccer Academy 1-0. In other game, 2 goals from star striker and captain Ali Raza and 1 goal from Mehdi saw KUFF North Karachi Centre beat KUFF Old Golimar Centre 3-0. The matches were supervised by senior national referee Habib Ullah.

According to KUFF administrator Riaz Ahmed, KUFC coach Arshad Jamal will be KUYL organising secretary as the tournament will feature U14 teams from all 6 KUFF youth centres and 4 club academies from across Karachi. The KUFF centres of North Nazimabad, Lyari, Old Golimar, North Karachi, Korangi, and Malir will have their U14 teams while Gulshan Soccer Academy, Baloch Mujahid Academy, Karachi City Football Academy, and Aga Khan Football Academy will participate with their own U14 sides.

The KUYL will be played on a single-league basis having a total of 45 matches, after which top 4 sides will qualify for semi-finals and finals of the tournament. The KUYL winners will earn Rs 15,000 cash prize, while runners up will have Rs 5,000. Individual awards will also be presented based on outstanding player performance.
