Rehan Iqbal’s solitary strike gave HEC a 1-0 win against PTV in Islamabad while University FC Faisalabad piped Afghan Sports FC Quetta with the same score-line thanks to a Muhammad Atif penalty at Rai Ali Nawaz Stadium in Sahiwal.
Meanwhile, Mecca Flour Mills (MFM) Faisalabad came back from two goals down against former national champions Pakistan Railways to snatch a 2-2 draw at the Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad.
Railway’s were given a 2-0 lead by striker Zaheer Abbas, who scored in the 37th minute and then doubled the lead on 68 minutes.
However, MFM got a lucky lifeline in the 86 minute when they were awarded a penalty and forward Mohammad Zulfiqar converted from the spot-kick to narrow the deficit.
Railway were stunned in injury-time when Mohammad Imran struck in the 92nd minute to clinch a precious point for his side.
